What is Mameru ceremony?

A few days before the wedding ceremony, Gujarati society observes the Mameru ritual, also called mosalu. The Mosalu residence was visited by the groom’s mother’s side of the family, Nita Ambani’s, who brought presents and offerings along with blessings for the newlyweds. The delegation was led by Smt. Purnima Dalal, her mother, and Ms. Mamta Dalal, her sister. The bride and groom received the traditional “Mameru” set of gifts from the groom’s maternal aunts and relatives. Mameru and Mosalu serve as a metaphor for how the extended family is handled and involved in wedding festivities. These functions highlight the importance of the marriage for the entire family and provide them an opportunity to get together.
