Junagadh, Gujarat’s record rains caused rivers to flood and schools to close.

On Monday, Junagadh and other districts in Gujarat had intense rains that resulted in considerable disturbance. In just 14 hours, Junagadh had more than 8 inches of rain, which caused the Willingdon Dam to overflow and other reservoirs to release water.

After Monday’s intense rains in many Gujarati districts, including Junagadh, the district administration decided to cancel Tuesday’s classes. Additionally, a rain notice has been issued for the upcoming days by the local meteorological authority. Monday from 6 AM to 8 PM saw almost 8 inches of rain pour in Junagadh. Authorities had to discharge water into the lower sections from the Sabali, Ojat, and Bantwa-Kharo reservoirs when the Willingdon Dam breached its top limit.

Torrential rain in Khambhalia and Devbhoomi Dwarka

In several regions on Monday, heavy rains caused disruptions to everyday life. Apart from Junagadh, Devbhoomi Dwarka also got eight inches of rain, while Khambhalia got a lot of rain. Consequently, all of these regions’ schools were closed on Tuesday.

Rain alerts issued for multiple districts

In several districts, including Kutch, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Surat, Navsari, and Valsad, the meteorological service has predicted significant rains. Alerts have also been sent out for Amreli, Rajkot, Mehsana, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Banaskantha.

Expected rainfall in Junagadh, Kutch, and other districts

On Tuesday, there will likely be a lot of rain in Navsari, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Junagadh, Surat, Kutch, and Valsad. Districts in Morbi, Surendranagar, Patan, Banaskantha, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, and Mahisagar have also received local advisories.
